I can't believe there are only two months (TWO. MONTHS.) until I pack my bags and head to New York. Or, you know, leave them totally empty and spend all of my money there.
I've been scouring past issues of my favourite travel mag (thanks, Sunday Times Travel) for features and tips, as well as scrolling through endless travel blogs, and come up with 10 of the top things I want to do while I'm there.
It's a pretty touristy list, I grant you - but I've never been there (or even to America) before, so I've got a lot to tick off.
1. Visit the Statue of Liberty
Like I said, touristy.
2. Visit Central Park
3. Take photos in DUMBO
DUMBO stands for 'Down Under the Manhattan Bridge'. It's a neighbourhood in Brooklyn, and a great place to get a shot of the Manhattan Bridge.
4. Spend a day exploring Brooklyn neighbourhoods
Speaking of neighbourhoods in Brooklyn, we're staying in the Prospect Heights/Crown Heights area and I'm excited about exploring our temporary home.
5. Visit Coney Island
6. Take the Staten Island ferry
I spend so much time on ferries for work, why let the fun stop when I go on holiday?
7. Go to MOMA
I think there'll be quite a few galleries I want to visit, but Manhattan's Museum of Modern Art is top of the list.
8. Hop on the Roosevelt Island tram
You get the (touristy) picture.
9. Go up the Empire State Building
It's got to be done, okay?
10. Watch an NBA game
This is maybe an unexpected one, and I need to look to see if it's even the basketball season. But as we're staying in Brooklyn it would be cool to see The Nets (and bump into Jay and Bey).
It was really tricky to narrow this down to 10. There are others I've left off, like hitting up Fifth Avenue and jumping in a yellow cab, so there's going to be a lot to cram into just 10 days.
Got any more recommendations for me? Let me know!
